PS3YES! can be flashed with other Hex, BUT it will lost the auto upgrade function: Plug it into PC, after 20 seconds; it can enter upgrade mode and both LEDs light. The PC will find device "AT90USB162 DFU", you can download firmware from here and use FLIP to flash it. If you install the FLIP and install drivers for "AT90USB162 DFU", you can flash HEX files that download from here and keep the "auto enter upgrade mode" function. You can flash it with any HEX file, BUT you will lose the "auto enter upgrade mode" function, after this, next time you have to do a hard upgrade. We are preparing more detail document for how to do a hard upgrade for PS3YES!.



















User's Manual



System Requires:

1. PlayStation 3 Host，Firmwaer Version 3.41.

2. Install Backup Manager Package（manager.pkg），You can download at below。

3. USB storage formated as FAT32 file system.

Usage :

Step 1 : Remove all the USB devices from PS3, make sure BD disc drive is empty. Power off theconsole, and connected the PS3YES! Dongle to the PS3. .





Step 2 : Switch on PS3 again.

For the SLIM Model: You will also have to remove power chord before plugging in USB.

For the FAT Model: Switching the power off shall do.



Press the ‘Power' button on the console and then press the ‘Eject' button. You should notice a beep sound and from the console. If PS3YES! Dongle working properly, within few seconds the blue indication LED at PS3YES! Dongle will switch on.. If the both LEDs(blue & red) will switch on it's not working.



The RED LED will switch on while booting.







The BLUE LED will switch on while ready.







If you just plug the PS3YES! to a PC's USB port or 'Jailbreak' was failed, PS3YES! will enter upgrade mode with RED/BLUE LED were on , about 30 Seconds after boot. (It can be upgraded)







Step 3 : Once the PS3YES! loads and ready ,connect the external USB storage (with BackupManager) to the PS3.















Step 4 : Navigate to "Game Menu" and select the option" Install Package Files". Select"manager,pkg" which will basically install back up manager for you. Install the "manager.pkg"











Step 5: Back to Game Menu, select and execute Backup Manager











Step 6: Select "YES"



Step 7: Wait for few seconds for Backup manager menu to appear, put in a original BD game discwhich you need to backup and press "O". You will be asked then whether to make a back up on theinternal HDD or the external USB storage device.Choose "yes", if want backup the BD game to external USB storage device.

Choose "yes", if want to backup the BD games to PS3 build in internal hard drive.







Step 8: Backup in progress, please wait.





Step 9: After backup process back to Game Menu,and enter Backup Manager again



Step 10: To load a previously created back up, insert any original BD game disc in console thenselect the desired back up from the Back Up Manager and press "X" to play the selected game.



Without insert any original BD game disc, message below will pop out if press "X".



Now press "X" to play the selected backup game. You can also delete your previously createdbackup by pressing triangle.



Step 11: You will automatically be redirected to the main menu where you can see the gameinstalled and ready to be played



Do not remove the PS3YES! while you play the game. It has to be connected at all the timeswhile you are playing a game through back up.

R4DS Flash card adapter for NDS roms / DS Lite
The R4DS is basically another slot 1 flash kit for homebrew and game backups (aka NDS ROMs).
It is a new product made by a previously unknown team. Maybe they have been operating under other name previously but not to my knowledge.
What is good about the R4 DS – you can run homebrew and ROMs, listen to music, watch videos etc. without any additional software. Just drag and drop whatever you want onto your MicroSD card, place it in the R4DS and here you go.
Packaging and R4 cart
R4DS is delivered in a white cardboard box wrapped in another box. First impression of package is not so good as today the flash kits are sold in tin or wooden boxes, such as CycloDS. But the contents of the package will definitely please you, because the package includes R4 DS cart, replacement shell, small size CD-ROM (with installation instructions available in English and Chinese + five firmwares with different skins), Micro SD USB card reader, Dual DS card case. This all makes a quite a nice package with free accessories. Some of the freebies are sort of non-essential, however nice to receive.
The cart is made of good quality plastic and fits perfectly into the console. The cart is not bumped by any chips sticking out under the label or anything – the quality is noticeable and cover is smooth and it looks like a genuine Nintendo flash card, you really wouldn’t tell from first glance. The Micro SD slot can be spring loaded which is a good thing. There is also a small groove that allows you to remove only the Micro SD instead of removing the R4DS from the console which is convenient.
R4 DS Installation
Installation is very easy. Everything you need is in the manual CD, however I would suggest visiting their website first because the manual on CD is not their best product.
Connect the USB reader to computer, format the SD card to FAT, choose the firmware skin and drag the folder onto your SD card. Once everything is formatted, you can drag and drop clean ROMs. As easy as it sounds. Plus the R4DS has the Moonshell which means you can watch movies, listen to MP3 files, view pictures and more. Also there is no need to update the Rom list as R4DS detects the save type automatically.
R4DS GUI
GUI automatically starts when you switch on the console. You will see a pop up of the loading screen and then the main menu. Next you will see 3 basic icons:

Game:
Game basically is all files on your SD card. Select the .NDS file you want to play and press “select”. Unfortunately you cannot use the touch screen when going through the file directory, which is a bit annoying. On the bottom screen you will always see a ROM with the title and its developer. Go ahead and load the ROM and you will be presented with a save-game option. ROMs will load within the seconds. Have fun!
Multimedia
Multimedia offers you the Moonshell. It has already been described so many times I will not go into detail. If you still do not know Moonshell, google it. Moonshell will allow you to watch videos, listen to music etc. There are also additional options, such as Reset.mse, change back light, L/R lock and other.

Boot Slot 2 provides an option to boot slot 2 cards from the R4DS interface. This PassMe option was tested with several slot 2 flash kits and it worked perfectly.

R4 SD Card Reader
The R4 package came with a small USB MicroSD card reader. The card reader works on Windows XP without the need of any drivers and allows easy access to the MicroSD card.
Some basic performance benchmarks were done on the R4 MicroSD card reader. I also ran the same tests on a Dell monitor’s card reader and a USB 2.0 SD/MMC card reader included with the Ninjapass X9 package.

It appears that my MicroSD card has a maximum write speed of 3.3 MB/s and all devices manage to reach that speed. What’s interesting between the card readers are the large difference between their read speeds. The Dell monitor is at least twice as fast as the X9 card reader and nearly three times faster than the R4 one. Even though the usb card readers have a very slow read speed, in normal use you will only ever write to your MicroSD card. Occasionally you may wish to backup some files such as saves and ROMs, but it won’t be a regular occurrence.
Although the MicroSD card reader provided by the R4 has the slowest read speed, it doesn’t require a MicroSD to SD card adapter. This saves the hassle of having to find an adapter every time you need to transfer files over to the MicroSD card and still works if you lose your adapter.
R4 Battery Life
A simple test was performed on the original DS and a DS lite to measure the battery life impact with the R4 constantly running. Each test simply measured the time for a fully charged DS to turn off with minimum backlight brightness. In order to get constant read requests to the cartridge, I used Jump Superstars for the tests and simply allowed the intro movie to be run continuously. The results from the test were:

In order to get some comparisons between the R4, I ran some additional tests. First I did a control test which just had the DS on in the main menu until the battery ran out. Then I redid the same tests as the R4 on a Ninjapass X9 and an original cartridge to compare the differences between the carts.
The results I obtained were:

From these results we can see that the real cartridge use the least amount of power. However, what’s interesting to see from the results is that the DS phat’s battery life decreases dramatically when using any cartridge device.
The R4 reduces the battery life of the DS lite by more than 2.8 hours compared to an original cart. However the Ninjapass X9 only affected the battery life of the DS lite by a mere 1.4 hours.
I reran the same test on the DS lite with a Toshiba MicroSD card on the R4 and the battery life was 12h59m, only 5 minutes worse. This seems to support the fact that MicroSD cards have very little affect on the power consumption of slot 1 devices.

The R4 managed to work perfectly with every game I tried. Saves worked properly, and all games ran at full speed. Also Wi-Fi worked on all the games without any issues. Download play, and multi-cart play all worked on flashed and non-flashed DS’s and I could also log on to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection with the R4.

Homebrew
Homebrew works without any need of patching. However, any homebrew that requires FAT access on the microSD card will need to be patched in order to work. Unfortunately, some homebrew that’s been patched with the R4 DLDI still may not work. Still, the R4 is relatively new and hopefully this problem will be rectified soon.
I tested the following homebrew programs with mixed success:
SNEmulDS – yes, but requires patching
moonshell – yes
disorganize 2.4 – beta works, but patching is required
scummvm – no
warcraft tower defense 0.2b – no
Conclusion
The R4 is a solid slot 1 package for the DS. The developers are constantly releasing updates for problems and appear to be cooperating with the homebrew community to get the libfat drivers working. Also by providing a save converter tool with the installation CD, the R4 is well suited for anyone looking to upgrade from their slot 2 or slot 1.
The whole package was easy to set up and use, and games ran without any patching required. The R4 is vastly superior to the X9 in terms of support and ease of use. Unlike the Ninjapass X9, there is no need to create an account on the developer’s forum to download updates such as a ROM save list and popular games such as Metroid Prime work.
The only minor problems with the R4 was that the developer’s website is extremely slow and the battery life on the R4 is poor. The developer’s need to get a better web host, as it appears to be currently hosted on a 56k connection (really it is!). Downloading the latest OS required three attempts before it would finally complete. The other problem of course is the poor power efficiency of the device. Battery life is reduced by about 18% compared to an original cart when using a DS lite on minimum brightness. If these two problems don’t concern you, then I would highly recommend the R4 as the slot 1 device of choice.

It has been a staple in the video game industry for generations now: roughly every five years, the major console manufacturers roll out new systems, packing graphics that are even more eye-popping and features we couldn’t have previously imagined. The core gaming world immediately goes crazy for early previews of next generation titles, scrutinizing every frame of released video. And the countdown begins for the next generation.

Not this time, though.

While it's been five years since Microsoft unveiled the Xbox 360 (and four since the Wii and PlayStation 3 debuted), the game industry is letting things ride, offering updates and new play techniques to existing consoles, but not making enormous financial bets on true next-generation machines. And, for the most part, everyone seems okay with that.

Still the ones.
The lingering recession and rising game development costs are partially to blame for the lack of new machines. As game systems have matured, the cost of making triple-A games has soared. Tent pole titles now cost (on average) between $20 million and $40 million -- and there are some extreme examples, like Rockstar Games' blockbusters "Red Dead Redemption" and "GTA IV," that have reportedly sailed past the $100 million mark.

Next-gen games will cost even more. With publishers struggling to achieve a profit in the current economy, no one is in a hurry to add to their expense sheet.

Console manufacturers are no different. Developing a new system is phenomenally expensive. Worse yet, Sony and Microsoft typically sell them at a loss for the first two or three years, making their money back on royalties from game software systems. (Nintendo has always sold its hardware for a profit, which is part of the reason the company has so much money in the bank.)

Currently, all three manufacturers have lowered their costs to a point where they make money on each console sale – and while hardware sales are slipping somewhat, they're still relatively strong. Believe it or not, there are still some retailers who have trouble keeping the PS3 or Wii in stock.

So, with strong demand and lower costs, there's no incentive for Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo to roll out a next-generation console at this point. But there's another reason the next generation won’t emerge until 2013 or 2014, at least.

We've seen some graphically amazing games on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to date -- and some wildly creative titles for the Wii -- but no one in the industry truly believes they have come close to tapping the full potential of any machine.

Developers like to do that before moving on to the next system. Often, the defining games of a system come just before it is overshadowed by its successor. The PS2 favorite "God of War" hit stores just as rumbles about the PlayStation 3 were beginning to build. And smash shooter "Perfect Dark" was released for the N64 when many people were more curious about the forthcoming GameCube.

While the Wii isn't the sales powerhouse it once was, the system still outsells the competition by a healthy margin each month. And Nintendo’s games have long retail lives, giving them a steady stream of income with fewer titles.

For the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the launch of Kinect and Move will attempt to lure the casual audience while giving core gamers party games they're not embarrassed to play. (Granted, those titles are in short supply in the launch lineups.)

And since both companies are able to add new features to their systems via downloadable upgrades, users can get those previously unimaginable features without shelling out for a new system. For instance, no one thought they’d be able to stream Netflix through their game machine when these systems launched.

Make no mistake: While there have been some naysayers, a new generation of console systems will most definitely arrive sooner or later. Streaming cloud game services like OnLive are showing some potential, but won’t reach critical mass for many years. While no companies are talking directly about the next generation, there have been some hints from publishers that work is underway.

But it's going to be a while before anyone outside of the industry gets a look at 'em.

You'll avoid conficts with file names by putting them all in on directory, and because you can name your sub-directory the name of the CD your ripped, you'll at least know that TRACK-1.mp3 in the ABBA directory is from the ABBA greatest hits album.
3. Try to backup your game saves to your pc hard drive on a regular basis. Not because they could get corrupted on the microSD card in the R4 DS, but because you may want to go back to an earlier save point later in the game. It's also good to get into this habit because you may erase a game (and its save game file) and not have a backup in case you want to play that game once again sometime in the future. While this one really seems like an obvious hint, you would be surprised to know that most of our technical support emails for the R4 DS deal with how to get back erased or deleted game saves that were not backed up. I recommend doing this at LEAST once a week, more if you play your games more frequently.

4. Don't take out the R4 DS from the Nintendo DS console each time you want to add files to the microSD Card. Simply push the microSD card with your finger and it will 'pop out' of the R4 DS card slot You can then quickly put it into the included microSD Card reader / writer in order to change games and files or add music or video.
5. This is my final (and quite possibly the most obvious) tip. And it deals with the microSD card in the card slot of the R4 DS. When you put the Nintendo DS or DS Lite into your pocket or pick it up. Do a double check on the microSD card in the R4DS slot 1 card. Make sure that the microSD card is in the card slot of the R4DS and it's not loose or ready to pop out. The chances of it popping out without you pushing down on the card are slim, but it could happen while you're carrying it in your pocket. There would be nothing worse than losing your microSD card somewhere, because it popped out and fell on the ground. MicroSD Cards are small and tiny, and once lost, you would have a hard time finding it anywhere else except at a store, where you'd be buying a new one. If you carry your Nintendo DS in a case, then the chances are much smaller that the card will get dislodged from the R4 DS card slot, but it's better to check on a regular basis anyway. Make this something you do before you even power on.
